My new release is out today: “Garota de Ipanema” (The Girl from Ipanema) and “Samba de Uma Nota Só” (One Note Samba), two classics by Antonio Carlos Jobim and collaborators.
For this recording, I created new arrangements of both songs for classical guitar.
The idea was to explore the possibilities of the instrument while preserving the elements that define the language of Bossa Nova.
The guitar makes it possible to combine rhythm, melody, bass, and harmony within a single performance.
It also creates new ways of listening to these familiar songs, bringing different voices and details of their structures into focus.
These are songs that have crossed decades and borders, becoming an important part of Brazilian music history.
Now they receive a new interpretation for solo classical guitar.
The recording is available starting September 18.
You can listen to “Garota de Ipanema / Samba de Uma Nota Só” on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, YouTube Music, and other digital platforms.
